Hello everyone and welcome to this weeks edition of the newsletter.

It has been another fairly wet week. With this in mind we decided to close holes 6,7,8 as they are very wet and could do with a rest. There is also currently work being done by greenkeepers to the front of the 10th green, so this maybe shut for a small part of the week. Thank you for patience and cooperation during this difficult spell of weather we are enduring.

Competition news

Pro Shop Stableford

The pro shop stableford start sheet is on the board.

Format - Fourball better ball pairs event, best stableford score on each hole played from the yellow tees.

Handicap allowance - 90% handicap

Qualification - Open to all male/female members who hold a current handicap. Females to play from Ladies Stroke Index with 2 courtesy shots.

Start times - Competitors to arrange their own start times using the start sheet below.

Entry fee - £5 per person payable in the golf shop on the day

Comfort is a must

Much has been made of the benefits of golf on our physical and mental health in recent years, with a study by Edinburgh University even claiming playing regularly can increase your life expectancy. Part of their research found that golfers typically burn around 500 calories during 18 holes, which isn’t surprising given the distance we travel.

How far are you actually walking?
A recent R&A experiment suggested the average total distance walked was 6.6 miles, with factors such as the number of shots taken (depicted in the illustration) playing a key role.
