EDF Golf Day 2019
It is my greatest pleasure to announce that this year the event raised £13,605 and I would like to thank you all on behalf of EDF Energy and St. Luke’s Hospice in Plymouth who are very grateful for such a fantastic amount. This means that our running total over the last 15 years stands at just over £223,000, which is a staggering amount to have raised over the years.
This has only been possible thanks to all the very kind donations, either through hole sponsorship and/or gifts for the raffle and auction. I hope those of you that attended enjoyed the event enough to come down to sunny Devon again next year.
During the day and evening, a local photographer, Rick Brinkhurst, took almost 800 photos and after editing, please click here to view.
Several people asked if they could purchase copies of the photos, something we will look into before next year’s event. But for this event, please feel free to copy as desired at no charge - Thank you Rick.
Next year’s event has been booked for Thursday 7th May 2020 - Please put a marker in your diary and I hope to see as many of you again next year.

Dartmoor League
Last week saw Elfordleigh play their first ever match in the Dartmoor League against Bigbury, which we won 3-2 in a close match fought in good spirit by both sides. Congratulations to the whole team for a great effort on the day, but special credit must go to Dan “the man” Batten and Terry “balls of steel" Hembrow who brought the last match home, winning the last three holes for victory on the eighteenth green.
Terry showed cool calm composure to sink a 10 foot putt to half the match, but followed it with his Seve impression as he couldn't contain his relief (NB as time passes the length of the putt will increase, this is a common phenomenon with golfers).
Fortunately for us, and unfortunately for Bigbury they missed their putt and the match was ours. Our next match is home to Bovey Castle and we hope for more of the same, albeit with a little less tension hopefully.

The term 'gapping' is commonly used to refer to the yardage distance between each of the wedges in your bag. We want to break this thought process and get you to think about gapping for your entire set, because any unequal gaps between clubs will have a detrimental impact on your game. |
Gapping at the top end One part of your set that needs careful consideration is how you transition from your irons into your woods. Lots of golfers struggle to hit their longer irons and instead opt for a replacement hybrid or utility iron, which can lead to large gaps between clubs if you're not careful. So, what's the solution? Well, take advantage of our services and professional advice, and we'll make sure you have the perfect club/s to fill any gaps at the top end of your bag. |
What are your options? PING recognised the problem that many golfers have in this area and have two solutions available depending on what you're looking for. The G410 hybrid is a brilliant club and is the first-ever adjustable hybrid from PING. Its larger profile adds stability and increases forgiveness when compared to an iron, whilst you can expect a high launch and a soft landing into greens. If you prefer the look of an iron, the G410 Crossover will be right up your street. A new tungsten weight adds forgiveness, whilst a premium finish ensures effortless turf interaction from rough and wet grass.
No matter your preference, come and speak to a member of the team about your options. |
