Club news

A friendly reminder...

There are been a few complaints regarding the number of pitch marks being left unrepaired on the greens. It is important that everyone repairs their pitchmarks, particularly as the ground is getting softer. If you do not have a pitchfork repairer, you can purchase one in the Pro Shop.

Competition news

Cardiology Charity Day
Saturday 12th September

This Saturday competition is in aid of the Cardiology Charity Day. It would be great to see everyone play in order to raise as much as possible for the Charity. The format will be an individual stableford from the yellow tees.

Captain's Night – Cross Country
Thursday 24th September

Please see below a message from Nigel for details of the event.

"Annually we have played the Cross Country Golf on Captain's Night and this year we will playing it on the 24th September from 1600. Due to Covid 19, there will be a couple of tweaks to enable this to happen. It will be a Texas Scramble format. To maintain Social Distancing it will not be a roll up, the results will be published electronically and prizes added to your account in the shop.

"The tee has been blocked out to facilitate the event. To get a tee time, once you have a got team organised, contact the pro shop and they will allocate you a tee as close to your desired tee time as possible and record it on BRS. The course, card and rules will be provided on the day."

Winter League

We are still taking entries for the Winter League, which starts on Saturday 3rd October. Entries must be paid in the Pro Shop within the next few weeks.

Vet's Roll-up

From Tuesday 29th September, we have reserved tee times each TUESDAY between 0756 and 0852 for the VETS roll up. If you are playing with the VET'S please book a tee time on BRS or via the Pro Shop during these times.

Pro’s Weekly Tip

This week’s tip is about making sure you have a pre-shot routine for every shot when you are out playing on the course.

If you do not have one already, start by standing behind the ball and visualising how you want to play, i.e. your target and shot shape, followed by a practice swing. This should remain the same for every shot no matter if you are hitting a drive, chip or putt.

Creating a consistent platform to hit your shots will increase your confidence and commitment over the ball, therefore leading to lower scores.

Wedges that work for you

Over the past few weeks, we've worked our way through the bag, from hybrids to irons and now to wedges. Each time we've been looking at what we want from each club and how it fits into our bag. So, how well do your wedges compliment the rest of your set?

Cobra MIM wedges

Our quest to hit the ball further has knock-on effects throughout the bag. It can only be a good thing if you're hitting your irons one or two clubs longer than previously, but it also means that the distance gap to your wedges gets bigger.

Our advice? Make sure you have three or four wedges in your bag that flow seamlessly from your irons. This is the part of the game where your score is made.

Make a change

When it comes to smashing one off the tee, there’s always a bit of push-and-pull between striking one as far as you can and simply not sending it out of bounds. For that reason, we could all do with a little forgiveness in a driver.
