Pro’s Weekly Tip
This week’s tip is about chipping around the greens from wet and muddy lies. As the wetter months approach us you will often find your ball lying poorly around the greens, making chipping more difficult.
There are two key scenarios, which are important to bear in mind.
The first is when your ball is lying in wet, juicy rough. In this situation, ensure that you commit to the chip by maintaining your speed through the shot. Failing to maintain your speed will increase the chance of the grass grabbing the club, resulting in duffed chips.
Secondly, when faced with a muddy lie ensure that your ball position is placed towards the middle of your stance and there is minimal shaft lean. This will prevent the leading edge from digging into the mud, allowing you to use the bounce on the club as your friend.
If you would like any help mastering these chip shots on winter, then please get in touch below and we can book you in for a lesson, improving your short game this winter. |
